A website is an important means of communication for many businesses and is becoming a vital tool to remain competitive in today’s market.  [PORTFOLIO]

10 benefits of having a website:
  • A website gives you access to international markets, directly, fast and economically.
  • It’s a relatively cheap form of advertising. The monthly costs of keeping a website are low.
  • It provides low cost marketing that places you in the same sphere of influence as multi-national companies.
  • Ability to add more functionality to your site as you need it or as your company grows.
  • Even more than being an advertising tool, it can also be an affordable business tool. E.g. online catalogues, contact management etc.
  • If designed properly, a website gives you a professional image that can otherwise be difficult to achieve at the same cost.
  • Use a website like a brochure for your customers and save money on printing.
  • Greater depth and breadth of products can be conveyed on a website that will never come across in brochure, phone call or even sometimes showroom.
  • Keep customers and staff in touch with new developments by regularly updating web content e.g. news, reviews, and promotions.
  • Capturing contact details from people who visit your site can provide you with a ready made customer contact list for future promotions.

Why have a website?
When looking for a service or product, many people begin their search on the internet. It’s the first place they look. The exciting thing about having a presence on the World Wide Web is exactly that: your company is published for anyone with internet access to view while searching, along with any of the big players. Whether you want to sell internationally or simply ensure that your message is broadcast worldwide, this amazing medium of freedom of speech is truly changing the way we do things.

As Telkom extends its ADSL broadband services across the country, faster connection times and download speeds will see more and more homes getting connected. 2004 saw more than 50% growth in the internet sector in South Africa, stimulated by this launch. As South Africans take the opportunity to connect through ADSL and 3G becomes standard on phones, most people’s first point of call for sourcing products or services will be the web. They will do this before making physical contact with these companies.

Having a professional web presence will become essential for companies to stay competitive. In some cases, being the first can have a huge advantage for your company. As has happened in UK, USA and Europe, more competition in the service provider sector has seen massive uptake in broadband subscriptions and exponential growth in internet usage. Nowadays the internet gets used for almost everything!

The Jewish Chronicle

www.thejc.com
The Jewish Chronicle is one of the oldest Jewish newspapers in circulation outside Israel. Their online readership is just as important to them, which is why Reddz was involved in a large development project to update and increase the functionality of this site. Still keeping with their corporate image and style of the site an online subscription and payment system was developed. Along with content management for adding articles, an archive search feature was created to enable subscribers to search back issues of The Jewish Chronicle. We also added the facility to add and track banners.
Soil

www.soil.co.za
South Africa’s first retailer and grower of 100% organically certified oils, Soil wanted a vibrant, clear and efficient website that would reflect their exciting and natural brand and convey information easily to their customers. It was important to include visual imagery of the farm environment, as this company works closely with the land in its organic capacity. A database was built to enable the client to add or remove products as their range expands and leave room to add the feature of an online payment system at a later date. Image manipulation was important to ensure that photographs of small products looked as stunning online as they do in real life.
A2Z Auctioneers

www.A2ZAuctioneers.co.za
This auctioneer company wanted to provide their customers with an online catalogue that is simple to use and fully editable. A database was designed to allow upload of text and photographs, which would re-size automatically to look tidy on the page and download quickly. An auctions newsflash section was built into the home page, which the client updates when appropriate.
C-Doc

Gif animations were used to create some humour and relay vital pieces of information. PDFs were provided for users to access printable information and forms.
West Coast Commercial Divingschool
